ESD work area

  • ESD equipment: Tables, chairs, worktops, personal grounding, floor coverings, etc.
  • ESD clothing: Shoes, gloves, armbands, etc.
  • ESD behaviour: Training and rules for employees
  • ESD tools: Pliers, screwdrivers, tweezers, etc.
  • ESD cleaning: Cleanliness is important as dust and dirt provide for insulation

ESD protection with ERGO-line

Even if ESD mostly looks harmless, it can cause damage to electronic components and assemblies with serious consequences. With a well-planned ESD workstation, you reduce risks and costs. ESD protection can promote a positive corporate image while protecting against financial loss. Damage caused by ESD is often first noticed by the customer.

Every object must have regular contact with earth. This is done via the employee, who dissipates the charges into the ground through touching or direct contact. Prevent ESD damage in order to avoid high reject, quality and repair costs. All table frames, accessories and trolleys are powder coated in static dissipative paint according to IEC 61340-5-1.

Version A - ESD work mat

The ESD work mat on the non-conductive table. The ESD wrist strap is connected to the work mat, which is earthed.

Version B - ESD workstation

The table frame, which has a conductive powder coating as standard in the ERGO-line range, is equipped with an ESD worktop.
The ESD wrist strap is connected to the ESD earthing module and the table frame is earthed.

Version C - ESD stand-alone solution

ESD workstation as in version 2. Additionally with the ESD floor mat, which is earthed, and the ESD work chair with ESD castors.

Version D - Complete ESD protection zone (EPA)

The complete ESD protection zone offers optimal protection. This is recommended for multiple workstations.

Electrostatic discharges (ESD): These are electrical discharges caused by the movement of electrons between two bodies with different electrical charges. They can be caused by touching, approaching or separating materials and can result in damage to electronic devices and components. In order to avoid ESD, it is advisable to use antistatic workplace mats, work clothing and tools and to dissipate electrical discharges regularly by touching an earthed object. In a lot of industrial environments, ESD measures are mandatory to prevent damage to electronic components and devices..

ESD workplaces - protection at the highest level: In the electronics industry in particular, it is of fundamental importance for electrostatics to be kept away from electronics work stations. Careful and comprehensive planning is extremely important both in the case of ESD protection zones for individual workplaces and for ESD-protected areas (EPA). It is important to strictly adhere to comprehensive protection against ESD during the transport, production and storage of electronic components. Basically, all objects such as furniture, as well as the staff within the EPA protection zone, should be conductive and earthed accordingly. All products offered by ERGO-line meet the requirements of IEC 61340-5-1, the European ESD standard.
